Summer Solstice Eve Night Walk with Kate & Paul
9.30pm on Friday 20th June
to 6.30am on Saturday 21st June. Sunrise in Devon: 5.03am
South Zeal to Belstone Nine Maidens Stone Circle (for sunrise) return
This special Summer Solstice Eve Night Walk on northeast Dartmoor with Paul & Kate will give us an opportunity to experience the magic of the Moor through the shortest night of the year, arriving at the Belstone Nine Maidens stone circle in time for Summer Solstice sunrise
As with all our Self~Nature Connection walks, we'll include some silent, mindful walking (and stopping) to enjoy and imbibe in the quiet and sounds of the night, connecting with Nature in its nocturnal aspect. The walk will also include a permitted fire and hot drinks and snacks en route.
At the time of writing (8th April), the walk will be somewhere between 4 and 6 miles. Even though we know this area well, we are doing some day and night recces beforehand. What we can say at this stage is that we will be walking back to South Zeal through beautiful Belstone Cleave at dawn, which should be a morning chorus delight!
If you're feeling a call to join us, you're welcome to book in advance here: https://buytickets.at/soulwarriors/1660360
We are inviting donations for this walk (which will go towards things like fuel, spare kit and firewood for this event and room hire and refreshments for our other events). We can take cash before or on the day, or through the Ticket Tailor link above.
More info is forthcoming in due course, including a kit list
Ongoing walk dates are as follows: June 8th, June 21st - night walk!, July 20th, August 17th, September 14th, October 12th, November 9th, December 7th. More info on these walks to follow.
Forest Chi Walks with Dartmoor Outdoor Festival.
The Wild Open Moor
Date and time: Tuesday September 5th, 10.30am till noon.
Location: Okehampton Common and Red a Ven Brook, Okehampton, Dartmoor. Exact location on booking.
Description: The moorland above Okehampton is wide open with fantastic views across North Dartmoor, with the Red a Ven brook dissecting the landscape and bordered by pockets of woodland.
We will walk for a maximum of two miles, using tracks and across grassland. There will be some moderate slopes and uneven ground. We will make stops along the way to tune in with the landscape, with Tai Chi moves, nature connection exercises and times of stillness.
The walk will finish at midday, with the option of staying longer for a picnic and a swim (weather permitting).
What to bring: This is an outdoor event high on Dartmoor so please bring clothing suitable for the weather. It can be windy so warm, waterproof and windproof layers are essential. (even if it feels warm down in the town). Bring footwear suitable for uneven and possibly wet ground. A flask with hot drink is recommended or if a hot day, bring plenty of water and a sun hat as we will be on the open moor and exposed to the elements. Bring something to sit on such as a carry mat. If you plan to stay on after the event bring a picnic and swim stuff if you plan to swim.
Please note, changes to the location are possible in the event of very windy or wet weather.
