Walks with Soul Warriors:
Kate Dixon of Forestchi is collaborating with Soul Warriors to co-lead guided walks at different locations on Dartmoor. These walks will be on a Sunday approximately once a month. For information on upcoming walks please see below.

Sunday 18th January, 10.00 - 4.00
Self~Nature Connection: Gaian Forest Bathing Experience in Yarner Wood
With Kate, Paul & Jenny
A RELAXED BLEND OF GUIDED WALKING (SOCIAL AND SILENT MINDFUL) AND TAKING TIME TO STOP, ENJOY QI GONG AND/OR GENTLE YOGA , BE AND CONNECT WITH OURSELVES AND THE LIFE ALL AROUND US THROUGH A VARIETY OF HEART-LED GENTLE MOVEMENT AND MEDITATIVE EXERCISES ~ INCLUDING GAIAN FOREST BATHING WITH OUR DEAR FRIEND AND SOUL WARRIOR JENNY BAKER
About
We will be connecting with the beauty and life of Yarner Wood, a Site of Special Scientific Interest within East Dartmoor National Nature Reserve. Yarner Wood has huge ancient oak stands, big magical old holly trees and little streams running through the wood. The wood is very quiet in the winter (even at weekends) and it's the perfect place to try a session of Gaian Forest Bathing.
There's no set distance to walk, but as a rough guide, we won't cover any more than 2 or 3 miles maximum.

From Jenny: "Gain Forest Bathing encourages us to open all our senses and connect with forest. The walks can all be different in style by the pace will always be slow and relaxed. Time to be called to that special tree, time to sink into the forest floor. Remembering what so many of us have forgotten. Connection to nature, listening, learning and healing. After a session of Gaian Forest Bathing I return with a sense of lightness in my mood, calmness surrounds me and I am better able to manage the stresses of everyday life in this fast paced world.
Forest Bathing (Shinrin Yoku) was developed as a specific practice in Japan in the 1980s (so it isn't an ancient). After many years research into the benefits of Forest Bathing on physical and mental health the Japanese government wanted to inspire residents to reconnect with and protect the countries forests."

We will be mindful of the weather and will limit the less active/still periods of the day accordingly, so that nobody gets cold. We'll send out a kit list closer to the time with some tips to keep you all as toasty as possible.

The next walk with Jenny is planned for April.

Sunday 15th February, 10.00 - 4.30
Self~Nature Connection: Grimspound circular (5.5. miles)
with Kate & Paul
A RELAXED BLEND OF GUIDED WALKING (SOCIAL AND SILENT MINDFUL) AND TAKING TIME TO STOP, ENJOY QI GONG AND/OR GENTLE YOGA, BE AND CONNECT WITH OURSELVES AND THE LIFE ALL AROUND US THROUGH A VARIETY OF HEART-LED GENTLE MOVEMENT AND MEDITATIVE EXERCISES
About
We're finally making it to the amazing Grimspound prehistoric Dartmoor settlement (1,500 - 800 BC) with its 24 hut circles, surrounded by a low wall. We'll start and finish by Warren House Inn (the second highest pub in England). We'll head south-southeast through Soussons Down forest and then east to Challacombe medieval village. We'll then track north through the pretty Challacombe valley and then east with a short climb up the north side of Hameldown Tor to Grimspound. After spending some time here connecting with the land, we'll head west along Vitifer Mine Leat back to Warren House Inn.
If it's cold and/or wet and we need a warm up and a hot drink by the end of our walk - and it feels right - the Warren House Inn has a famous open fire that has been burning continuously since 1845. So, that should definitely warm us up if we need it!

Self~Nature Connection: Bellever forest & East Dart River (5 miles) and mobile sauna - with Kate, Paul, Josh & Eva Sun 8 Mar 2026 10:30 AM - 4:30 PM Start and finish at Bellever car park (£6.50 all day), PL20 6TT. What 3 Words: reform.heckler.deform
Buy ticketsA RELAXED BLEND OF GUIDED WALKING (SOCIAL AND SILENT MINDFUL) AND TAKING TIME TO STOP, ENJOY QI GONG AND/OR WILD SWIM/DIP OPTIONS AND A SAUNA(!) IN BEAUTIFUL SETTINGS, BE AND CONNECT WITH OURSELVES AND THE LIFE ALL AROUND US

About
We'll start and finish in Bellever forest car park. With towering pines and spruces, Bellever forest nestles in the very heart of Dartmoor. Join Paul and Kate on this beautiful 5 mile pilgrimage up onto Bellever Tor - with tors to the horizon in every direction, onto a collection of bronze age monuments on Lakehead Hill (including a stone row and Kistvaen) and onto Laughter Tor.
We'll then retrace our steps along the lovely East Dart River river where there is the optional of a swim or dip and then, of course the further option of a virtually instant warm-up in the mobile sauna just a few metres away. As Josh & Eva will have the sauna fired up and ready to go for an hour, you're welcome to stay and embrace the Finnish tradition of 'contrast bathing' (alternating sauna and cold dips), which promotes circulation, reduces inflammation and stiffness and aids all round rejuvenation.

Feedback from walk participants
Thanks again for the walk today- I wasn't sure what to expect but it was great- a real tonic.
It was lovely sauntering along with everyone- really good company! and I enjoyed your story about the stones.
I'm looking forward to going on my next walk with you and Paul and hopefully with Rachel and David again.
Linda

Dear Paul and Kate,
Here's a big Thank you to you both and the lovely group of people sharing the day with me.
Lustleigh Cleave in May is one of the most beautiful spots with seemingly never ending carpets of bluebells in ancient woods.
Sitting on the rocky remainders of an ancient settlement in this enchanted place to be treated to a guided meditation introduced and completed by the sound of Kate's ocarina, rounding off the vision.
Taking in the breathtaking view from the Harton Chest ( " heart on chest") rocky outcrop view point, connecting with the rocks whilst listening to a wise  tale about the rock beings.
Swimming in the ice cold river- how invigorating, mindful and focussing!
Enjoying a reading of moving poetry by one soul warrior and other
soul warriors carrying a 'wood dragon' all the way back to the meeting point for a fellow soul warrior.
A wonderfully mindful journey through- and connection with- this enchanted landscape, being able to just be-  brilliantly facilitated by Paul and Kate.
Sylvia
